Mobile optimised website designed to promote the Arts in Northern Ireland, presenting content in an innovative and engaging manner.
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland is the main development and funding agency for the province’s Arts community.
In redesigning their website, the Arts Council sought to better support and promote the Arts in Northern Ireland. The site needed to present content relevant to each of the identified audience groups in an innovative, accessible and engaging manner that would reflect the way in which they interact with the organisation, and promote content sharing and feedback.
The main navigation of the new Arts Council website prioritises the six core areas of the site’s content, making it easy for visitors to find key information such as funding opportunities and the range of art forms the Council supports. Breadcrumb trails throughout the site aid navigation through the interior pages, and carefully considered user journeys ensure that visitors are presented with the content most relevant to them. In sections with especially dense content, such as the News archive, sophisticated search functions allow users to filter search results by date, art form or keywords.
Every page in the website has a spacious, clean look and feel, and is built to meet W3C Accessibility guidelines, enabling users of all ability and experience levels to find the content they need quickly and easily. A separate mobile-friendly website allows users to view a streamlined version of the website on a range of devices, such as smartphones and tablets.
A fresh, modern design concept echoes the high quality artistic and creative practice the Arts Council of Northern Ireland represents, and conveys the creativity and diversity of the arts industry while also maintaining an air of professionalism.

Eyekiller has worked with the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to develop our main website and also the “Troubles Archive”, a site highlighting artworks produced in Northern Ireland during The Troubles. Both of these sites demonstrate an easy to use design – for end users and administrators. The development of the sites was project managed through good regular feedback between Eyekiller and the Arts Council, from initial project inception through to the sites being launched.
