Northern Trust Intranet

The aims of the project were to create a more effective method of communication within the NHSCT, reduce paperwork and foster a sense of community within the organisation as well as a greater sense of involvement. Working closely with the client, Eyekiller developed a professional, corporate themed brand specifically for the Intranet website, distinguishing it from the customer facing site, while still echoing the look and feel associated with the Trust. Using this as the foundation, the team planned the design, structure and functionality of the website, choosing a modular design structure to keep information separated within each page. This approach frees space to display announcements and news relevant to all staff members, then guides visitors to the content most applicable to them. The end result is an enjoyable browsing experience where the visitor can access information quickly and easily, where the pages maintain a consistent and logical structure and where the visitor is never inundated with information they don’t require.

The intranet website acts as a central resource for all shared company information, including minutes, forthcoming and ongoing project plans and timetables and the Trust’s regular staff newspaper. The site has also allowed the Trust to promote and encourage self development amongst the staff by detailing learning opportunities and training courses which could apply to and enhance their field of work within the NHSCT. To address the challenge of generating a greater sense of community, Eyekiller created a collaborative forum environment where staff could communicate with one another, arrange meetings and discuss developments. By integrating functionality to conduct online surveys, focus groups and consultations, the organisation can find out more about where improvements could be made and can keep everybody involved as the NHSCT grows and evolves.
